Step 1
Site Determination & Preliminary Budget
Site: Your home should be unique to your lifestyle and your building site; the topography, views, and natural highlights of your property will likely influence the shape and flow of your home.
Budget: A successful home plan begins with the determination of three primary factors: Size and Complexity, Quality, and Cost. As you are gathering ideas for your home you will also want to prioritize your values for your new home and establish a budget that reflects those values. |

Step 2
Design
Most of our homes are custom designs which often require more time and attention to personal detail. Blue Ox Timber Frames will work closely with your designer or you may choose to utilize the award-winning design firm we have teamed up with to help you express your visions and encourage new ideas.
We recommend that, while you gather ideas for your new home, you look through timber frame and home design magazines and books. Highlight photos and floor plans that you may want to incorporate into your own home. The little things are often what make a house a home and should not be overlooked. |

Step 3
Crafting Your Timber Frame Home
Your frame will likely be the highlight of your home. For that reason, we take great pride in both the quality of our craftsmanship and the care of your timbers. Our experienced timber wrights will handcraft your frame, applying traditional mortise and tenon joinery to the wood of your choice.
We also offer such timber embellishments as curved braces, chamfered edges, pendants, and fine detailing. We can work with you to give your home a rustic or more contemporary look depending on the style of wood and finish you select. |
 |
Step 4
Ordering Your Insulated Panels
After we have completed both the home and the timber frame design we will begin to work closely with an insulated panel supplier for the design and fabrication of your panels. The panels will arrive to the job site pre-cut to your home’s specifications, including window and door openings as well as chases for electrical wiring.

Step 5
Frame-Raising & Enclosure
Blue Ox offers full frame erection services, which include the raising of your frame and the applicaiton of tongue and groove ceilings. We also work closely with insulated panel contractors for the installation of the panels to enclose our frame.

 |
Step 6
Completion of the Home
Once your timber frame is raised and enclosed, your local builder will resume construction with the installation of your mechanical systems (electrical, plumbing, and HVAC) and applying both the interior and exterior finishes to complete your home.
