Blue Ox Timber Frames recently did our first raising of 2017. This Douglas Fir timber frame cabin went up last week not too far from the BOTF shop. This custom home is replacing a cabin that was removed in the fall. Once the cabin was removed, the foundation for the timber frame was laid before the ground froze so it would be ready for mid-winter construction.

Our designers worked very closely with the homeowners to accommodate their unique desires for this custom home. The lot is located on a peninsula between two bays on a lake. The homeowners wanted a design that allowed for panoramic views of each bay. The footprint for the timber frame home also had to accommodate a beloved old-growth tree that the owners want to preserve.

The footprint for this custom timber frame home wraps around and preserves this old growth oak tree.

With a little creativity and ingenuity, our designers drafted a home that fits around the tree, has windows that should allow for sweeping views of the lake on both sides of the peninsula, and meets the specific wishes of the homeowners. Our craftsmen, as always, did an excellent job with every aspect of the frame, from initial delivery of the timbers to the raising.

We look forward to seeing how HighPoint Homes finishes this timber frame.  We hope to have more pictures later this year.

You can see the bay behind the home in the upper left corner. The home should have a panoramic view of the lake on both sides of the peninsula.
